Lipid is an important basic topic in biochemistry for nursing students. It is difficult for them because it is too abstract. The number of students are increasing and their learning abilities vary. The innovative multimedia Computer Assisted Instruction(CAI) on Lipid and its chemical components analysis by spot test kit and spot test kit (STK-PCM) were developed.
Objectives :
- To compare achievement before and after the learning experience with the CAI.
- To compare the experimental to the control group with respect to acheivement and the attitudes towards learning about lipid.
The research was carried out in two phases.
- The first was the construction of the multimedia CAI software by Macromedia Authorware 7 and the development of a Spot Test Kit.
- The other was the phases of experimental teaching; The Thai army nursing students year 2 volunteers were selected randomly into two groups.
- The post-test average score of the experimental group after the learning experience with the CAI was significantly higher than the pre-test at the level .001.
- The post-test average score of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group at the level .001.
- The average score with respect to attitude towards learning about lipids of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group at the level .001.
In conclusions, the developed CAI and Spot Test Kit can be used as an efficient studying tool in science teaching both in self-directed learning and also together with a conventional lecture.
CAI multimedia can be used for students' learning by themselves at any time and place or as a complement to lecture.
